That's fewer than 0.5% of the total 16.4 million Americans who served during World War II, per the museum.

The latest: The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, will hold a ceremony honoring the 82nd anniversary of D-Day and its own 25th anniversary this year with a full day of events tomorrow.
