Stadium Commons kicks off next phase

Stadium Commons is moving to its second phase of construction.

Why it matters: It's bringing more options to South Huntsville's John Hunt Park area that's also seeing significant investment from the city and landing major events.

The latest: Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate announced the move to phase two construction Tuesday.

• When complete, the 18-acre mixed-use site will eventually total more than 200,000 square feet, per the release.

State of play: Already open at the South Parkway development are Hattie B's Hot Chicken, Free People, VSL Nail Spa, Ferren Boutique and more.

• The $35.2-million first phase will also see restaurant Juniper's Kitchen and a 145-room Hyatt Place Hotel.
• Juniper's Kitchen and other phase one tenants are slated to open later this year, the announcement says.
• Adjacent to the site, between it and Joe Davis Stadium, a dual-branded Hilton Hotel is under construction and set to be completed by year's end.
