High schoolers from across the state are going hands-on in the music business at The Orion Amphitheater this June, running an entire show.
Why it matters:Reach and Teach, a nonprofit that introduces students to career opportunities, is partnering with the Orion to bring 31 students to the venue to run virtually all aspects of a show June 5.
Zoom in: This year, the program's second at The Orion, is introducing a new challenge for the students, having them plan, produce and execute a ticketed live concert: RNT Live, an announcement says.
Students will be in full control of the production process, including creative direction, marketing and technical execution of the show, which will feature Kutter Bradley, Adam Calvert and The Velcro Pygmies.
What they're saying: "I hope I can inspire kids to chase their dreams, just like this organization did for me," Bradley, a former Reach and Teach student and performer in this year's event, said in a release.
The program is "helping create dynamic, real-world learning experiences that connect students to careers in music, media and live event production," Matt Mandrella, Huntsville music officer, said.
