Crestwood Medical Center is officially part of the Huntsville Hospital Health System.
Catch up quick: The sale is part of Crestwood parent company Community Health Systems' broader effort to reduce debt, per an announcement Wednesday.
How it works: Crestwood will continue operating under its name and identity, and patients can continue seeing their physicians and receiving care without changes to services or operations.
Addressing "questions about how the transition may affect health care choice and competition in the Huntsville area," the announcement says the hospital will continue operating separately.
Zoom in: Priorities laid out for the integration include updating equipment and technology and utilizing previously unused space, including patient rooms.
Priorities also include "strengthening nurse compensation," coordinating care between hospitals and implementing a single electronic health record system.
What they're saying: "Starting today, any profit generated by Crestwood will remain right here in our community to serve you – not sent to shareholders or out of state," said Huntsville Hospital CEO Jeff Samz, in the release.
What we're watching: Samz is set to go before Huntsville City Council April 23 to talk about the sale.
