City Council has a lot to chew on tonight.
Why it matters: The city is weighing incentive agreements for some big company expansions, and will decide on the first big annexation of 2026.
Zoom in: One of those is a project development agreement to help Blue Origin complete a $71.4-million, 105-job expansion at its Huntsville plant.
Per the agreement, included with the agenda, the city would provide up to $200,000 in incentive payments based on hiring, and cover up to $200,000 in utility infrastructure costs.
SPX Enterprises, an HVAC equipment maker, is planning a $118-million manufacturing facility in Huntsville with 350 new hires, and the city is weighing up to $250,000 in incentives.
Case in point: Almost 650 acres south of I-565 around Swancott Road. The city reports that 100 acres will be for a new school and the rest for residential and other development.
Also up for a decision is a $16,700 engineering agreement with Mullins LLC to design a dog park and parking area on Cabela Drive.
