Huntsville-based coffee alternative maker FigBrew is partnering with Louisiana-based Northshore Specialty Coffee to help coffee lovers keep loving coffee.
Why it matters: The two companies have put together a new 50/50 coffee/fig blend, aimed at limiting climate impact and reducing digestive issues for the two-thirds of Americans who drink coffee every day.
Zoom in: Pairing Northshore's Guatemalan Huehuetenango Fedecocagua coffee with FigBrew's original digestive roast, the new half-caf digestive coffee should hit FigBrew's website late next week.
It's a first-of-its-kind blend, and "targets the significant portion of coffee drinkers who struggle with coffee's natural acidity and caffeine content," per a release.
The addition of roasted figs is also easing the pressure on suitable coffee growing land, beset by deforestation, disease and climate change.
What they're saying: "Northshore was founded to evolve the coffee experience in the Southern US," said Northshore founder Trey Malone, in an announcement. "We study every aspect of coffee roasting and brewing."
He said the company's partnership with FigBrew is how they're thinking outside the box to deliver a better coffee experience.
