The big picture: Here are a few holiday happenings to help you make the most of it.
π‘ Huntsville Botanical Garden's Galaxy of Lights, celebrating 30 years this year, started last week and runs through the end of the year.
βΈοΈ Skating in the Park opens today, offering outdoor ice skating behind the Huntsville Museum of Art in Big Spring Park through Jan. 4, 2026.
- Check the website for days with limited hours or special events like Family Nights.
π‘ Continuing this year is Huntsville City Council's Deck the Districts competition, open to folks across the city looking to show off their holiday decor.
- Enter the competition online by the Dec. 12 deadline.
- Winners from each of the city's five council districts will be announced at the Dec. 18 council meeting, and will receive a special prize and festive yard sign.
π Huntsville Parks and Recreation has a lineup of more than a dozen holiday happenings, including the Big Spring Jingle on Friday, Dec. 19, 4-8pm in Big Spring Park.
π€ A FLY Christmas is coming to Mars Music Hall, with ADIA, The Voice's Jazz McKenzie, Lamont Landers and Leon Jorden on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7pm.
