The big picture: Here are a few holiday happenings to help you make the most of it.
💡 Huntsville Botanical Garden's Galaxy of Lights, celebrating 30 years this year, started last week and runs through the end of the year.
⛸️ Skating in the Park opens today, offering outdoor ice skating behind the Huntsville Museum of Art in Big Spring Park through Jan. 4, 2026.
- Check the website for days with limited hours or special events like Family Nights.
🏡 Continuing this year is Huntsville City Council's Deck the Districts competition, open to folks across the city looking to show off their holiday decor.
- Enter the competition online by the Dec. 12 deadline.
- Winners from each of the city's five council districts will be announced at the Dec. 18 council meeting, and will receive a special prize and festive yard sign.
🔔 Huntsville Parks and Recreation has a lineup of more than a dozen holiday happenings, including the Big Spring Jingle on Friday, Dec. 19, 4-8pm in Big Spring Park.
🎤 A FLY Christmas is coming to Mars Music Hall, with ADIA, The Voice's Jazz McKenzie, Lamont Landers and Leon Jorden on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 7pm.
