Next spring, South Huntsville's greenways will be paved from Ditto Landing to Hays Farm to Jones Valley.
Why it matters: Cyclists especially have long been awaiting the completion of this 15-mile loop, said Shane Davis, director of urban and economic development.
Zoom in: The nearly $1.5-million project will pave a connection from Elgie's Walk Greenway by Bell Mountain Park, at the corner of Redstone Road and Haysland Road at Gate 3, to the Tennessee River Greenway at the old Gate 2.
Folks already walk the grass and gravel path, but paving it will open it up to more accessible users, creating a paved loop circling the Parkway connecting Ditto Landing to Hays Farm to Aldridge Creek Greenway.

What they're saying: "This was one of the items that people were really focused on when they were looking at the big greenway map," said Council President Jennie Robinson, who represents the area.
"It is such a crucial piece to complete."
What's next: Davis said work should be completed around March 2026, winter weather depending. The greenway will close at times for the work, but won't be closed for the duration of the project.
