Auburn lands on top in Alabama college rankings

Auburn University is the highest-ranked Alabama college in this year's U.S. News & World Report rankings.
- The annual "Best Colleges" rankings were released Tuesday, an evaluation using 17 metrics, per U.S. News & World Report.
The big picture: "For over four decades, Best Colleges has served as a trusted and data-backed resource for students and families navigating the complex college search process," says LaMont Jones, U.S. News & World Report managing editor, in a release.
- Auburn ranked 49th among public schools, with university president Christopher B. Roberts saying in a news release that the ranking reflects the school's long-term vision.
What they're saying: "It is always gratifying to receive national recognition for Auburn's rigorous academics and vibrant co-curricular offerings," Roberts said in the release.
- "These elements make an Auburn degree both powerful and meaningful — while also fueling Alabama's talent pipeline across key industries and sectors."
Zoom in: The University of Alabama at Birmingham ranked 132, University of Alabama 160, Samford 179, University of Alabama at Huntsville 242 and University of South Alabama 363.
