A third sign over I-565 westbound near the Triana Boulevard will go up overnight Sept. 25, marking the last major work of a two-year project.
Why it matters: Installation of the third dynamic message sign is the last major feature of the $5.2-million I-565 advanced corridor management project, ALDOT said.
Zoom in: Work will close one lane of I-565 West for seven hours starting at 8pm Thursday Sept. 25, causing one lane to be closed from around Oakwood Avenue to Triana.
The work will bring two rolling roadblocks of about 30 minutes each as a crane lifts the overhead structure and the sign into place.
Those roadblocks will also close on-ramps to the interstate from Oakwood Avenue, Washington Street and Memorial Parkway.
Catch up quick: The larger project started in July 2023, with plans for 10 traffic cameras, three dynamic message signs and two weather stations between US 72 in Huntsville and Mooresville Road in Limestone County.
ALDOT spokesperson Seth Burkett told Axios that most of the project was completed last year.
This third and last sign, along with some power supply issues for some of the cameras, he said, were the only major items remaining on the project.
