What to know before voting in Madison's mayoral, council election

Madison voters head to the ballot box tomorrow to decide the next mayor and city council, the majority of which will be new faces.
Here's a primer if you're headed to vote:
- Up for election are the mayor and all seven city council seats. Find sample ballots here.
- Polls are open 7am-7pm. Find your council district and polling location here. If a runoff is needed, it's scheduled for Sept. 23.
Who's running for mayor?
Catch up quick: Mayor Paul Finley isn't running for reelection, and three candidates are vying to replace him.
Ranae Bartlett is the current Madison City Council President Pro Tempore, representing District 5, and a former Board of Education member.
M. Margi Daly is a former council and county commission member in New Jersey, where she lived before moving to Madison.
Steve Smith is the current Madison City Administrator, and previously served on the city council.

Four council seats already set
Of the seven council races, only three are competitive. The other four have only one candidate running.
Yes, but: Only one of the four noncompetitive races, District 1's Maura Wroblewski, is an incumbent.
- The other three are: David Bier, for District 2; Billie Goodson for District 3; and Alice Lessmann for District 5.
District 4 also has no incumbent running, with Rachel Homolak and Michael McKay running for the seat currently held by Greg Shaw.
District 6 sees incumbent Karen Denzine facing challengers Scott Harbour and Erica White.
District 7 has challenger Kenneth Jackson facing incumbent John D. Seifert II.
