Huntsville's Restaurant Week kicks off today, with dozens of local restaurants offering exclusive menu items and special deals for the hungry Huntsvillian.
Why it matters: There's a grand prize worth more than $850 at play, too, and it requires a little more than swinging by your favorite pizza spot this week.
Zoom in: Pam Williams, vice president of tourism for the CVB, said last year there were 400-500 downloads of the pass, and this year it's already above 1,200, including downloads all across the country.
- She encouraged folks to check in often, as restaurants may change or add to their offerings, and new restaurants may be added as well.
π² The first thing you need to do is download the Rocket City Dish Pass here.
π You'll get a text with a link, which will take you to a Huntsville Convention & Visitors Bureau page, where you can select the pass.
πΊοΈ That takes you to a page listing the 77 (as of Thursday) restaurants that are participating.
πSelect a restaurant and it'll give you an option to check in and to see their Restaurant Week exclusive offering.

π€³ In the example above, I clicked on the entry for The Moon Bakeshop on Jefferson Street downtown.
π It shows the button to check in when you visit, and to see their special menu item. For The Moon, it lists a local roasted peach and candied ginger scone.
How it works: Each check-in counts as an entry to win the grand prize, which includes two nights at 106 Jefferson and $100 for the Von Braun Center box office.
- An experience for six by Touronimo and a specialty food tour for two with Scenethat Tours is part of the prize as well.
- Post on Facebook or Instagram with #DineHSV to enter the social media contest, too.
