Broward will give away trees to residents this weekend

Broward County is giving away free trees in Plantation on Sunday to help expand its tree canopy.

Why this matters: More trees = more shade = cooler neighborhoods.

How it works: All you need is proof you live in Broward and you'll receive two trees (per household).

• Options: Dwarf Mango, Green Buttonwood, Soupsop and Wild Tamarind.
• First-come, first-served. While supplies last.

If you go: Sunday, 9-11am.

• Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church: 400 NW 118th Ave.

What's next: Broward will give trees at the Community Climate Conversation at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale on Aug. 29.
