My dogs and I discovered this fire pit over the weekend in a wooded area between Parker and Hilltop roads — about 1.5 miles south of downtown Parker.
🏠 Most frightening? Someone started a fire fewer than 100 yards from houses in the Preston Hill neighborhood.
Threat level: Several fires have popped up in Douglas County lately.
Zoom in: This pocket of woods has been a stealthy problem since around the pandemic — and conditions appear to be getting worse.
🌲 Case in point: Pine trees have been chopped down, and I've cleaned up lots of beer cans, discarded vapes and other trash during my dog walks.
The bottom line: Don't light fires in the woods.
