For Colorado Springs soccer fans, the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup won't start at kickoff — first you've got to decide where to watch.

State of play: Local bars, pubs and breweries are gearing up for packed watch parties, early-morning kickoffs and plenty of celebrations. 

Whether you're chasing a packed watch party, a locally brewed pint, or a giant screen for every dramatic stoppage-time goal, here's a non-comprehensive guide to where soccer fans can come together around town.

⚽️ The Brit Pub: This British-style watering hole offers imported ales, traditional pub fare and TVs throughout. Expect a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of fellow supporters.

⚽️ Trainwreck: This New South End hangout is going all in on the World Cup experience, with every match on its massive screens and game-day sound and drink specials to boot. 

Fans can watch indoors or outside, grab food from the full kitchen, and settle in for what the bar is billing as "every goal, every save, every heart attack moment."

⚽️ The Sportsbook Bar & Grill: With its more than 40 HDTVs and giant LED wall, you're not likely to have trouble seeing the game here. This locally owned Tejon Street spot features indoor and outdoor viewing areas in a sports-obsessed atmosphere.

⚽️ Jack Quinn's: Downtown's beloved Irish pub is rolling out a World Cup game plan of its own. 

Every match will be shown in the downstairs space, while the second- and third-group-stage U.S. men's national team games will get dedicated upstairs watch parties. The pub plans to open an hour before kickoff and will offer half-price appetizer specials during matches.

If Team USA advances, Jack Quinn's says the watch parties will continue through the knockout rounds and, fingers crossed, all the way to the final.

⚽️ Urban Animal Beer Co.: Known for its quirky brews and community events, Urban Animal's downtown taproom is leaning into soccer season. The brewery's spacious setup and screens make it a natural gathering place for football fans.

Springs run club rundown

Colorado earned a C for maternal mental health care this year, down from a B- in 2025, according to a new report from the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health.

Why it matters: About 1 in 5 U.S. moms experience maternal mental health conditions such as postpartum depression, and most don't get treatment.

How it works: States were scored across 27 measures in four areas:

The big picture: Colorado's grade matched the nation's overall performance.

Zoom in: State officials say major barriers remain, especially in rural Colorado.

About 40% of Colorado counties are maternity care deserts, George Laumeyer, public information officer for the state's Behavioral Health Administration, tells Axios. That means they have no hospitals or birth centers providing obstetric care and have no OB providers.

Laumeyer also cites limited broadband access, workforce shortages, and the lack of a maternal mental-health-specific inpatient or partial hospitalization program, where parents can stay with their infants during treatment.

An analysis of more than 170,000 deliveries from 2019–2023 by the Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative and the Center for Improving Value in Health Care found:

1 in 3 Colorado births involved a parent with a diagnosed mental health condition, most commonly anxiety or depression.

Two-thirds of postpartum people with a mental health diagnosis didn't receive mental health services during or after pregnancy.

The findings underscore the need for early, coordinated and culturally responsive care for Colorado families, per Laumeyer.

The state is working toward these goals with expanded mental health screenings during and after pregnancy and by investing in maternal behavioral health programs, he says.

For families seeking help, he highlights several resources in El Paso County:

The Tough as a Mother campaign aims to reduce stigma around maternal substance use disorders and connect pregnant and parenting moms with treatment and recovery support.

Care coordination is also available through Signal Behavioral Health Network's care access line at 888-607-4462.

The bottom line: "While we applaud the progress states are making, the U.S. is providing mediocre maternal mental health care at best," said Joy Burkhard, CEO of the Policy Center, which also released a roadmap for states to improve maternal mental health care.

Colorado Springs' own Bella's Bagels took home "Schmear of the year" at the 2026 BagelFest West in Los Angeles this week for its Pueblo green chile cream cheese.

Why it matters: The win puts a local favorite on a national stage — and highlights Colorado's growing food cred beyond Denver.

State of play: Bella's "Mom-Made" New Jersey-style bagels are no stranger to the awards game. 

The shop previously won Best Bagel in Best of the Springs and landed on Yelp's 2025 list for the Top 20 Best Local Food Businesses in the country.

BagelFest, founded in 2019, has become the premier bagel industry showcase — drawing thousands of attendees and helping standout shops gain momentum.
