1-minute voter guide: Crank and Killin battle for the 5th Congressional District

State of play: Crank, the first-term congressman, remains favored, but the contest's grown increasingly competitive.

• The Cook Political Report moved the race from "Likely Republican" to "Lean Republican" in September.

Meet the candidates: Crank's a southern Colorado native and Colorado State University graduate.

• Before winning in 2024, he worked for former Rep. Joel Hefley, the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity, and hosted a conservative radio show.
• Killin is a former Army captain and paratrooper; she graduated from Falcon High School and Georgetown Law School. She worked at USAA and served as chief of staff to members of Congress and former second gentleman Doug Emhoff. This is her first campaign for elected office.

Zoom in: President Trump's tariffs divide the candidates: Crank supports them as a negotiation tool but opposes keeping them long term, while Killin argues they're driving up costs for everyday Americans.

• Crank supports the war in Iran but believes Trump should have sought congressional approval. Killin calls the war reckless.
• On data centers, Crank believes they're necessary to compete in artificial intelligence against other nations, while Killin supports a moratorium and believes they should cover the additional energy costs they create.
