More data centers are coming to Colorado

State of play: At least 10 data centers are under construction or planned in Colorado in the coming years, according to records analyzed by market intelligence company Cleanview.

• The collective capacity would top 1,400 megawatts — an eight-fold increase from the current 173 megawatts at the 13 data centers already operating in the state, the report found.
• The largest on the horizon is Cielo Digital Infrastructure's 750-megawatt data center in Hudson.

Zoom in: Colorado Springs has two data centers, one built by Novva Data Centers and the other by QTS Data Centers, the report shows.

• The controversial Raeden Project Taurus remains in limbo after City Council last week delayed a decision on whether to allow it to move forward.

The fine print: Cleanview only counts individual buildings as data centers.

• It's unlikely that the more than 3,000 data centers on its national list will come to fruition as local governments issue moratoriums and tougher construction guidelines.
