Memorial Day unofficially kicks off Colorado Springs' outdoor music season β and this year, there are more live concert options than ever.
Why it matters: Music fans can pair live shows with summer weather, mountain views and long holiday weekends.
Driving the news: Two major musical events anchor Memorial Day weekend: Territory Days in Old Colorado City, featuring more than 30 bands, and MeadowGrass, which takes over Black Forest.
What's next: The holiday weekend is just the opening act. Live music is popping up across Colorado Springs all summer long, including the new β and free βΒ Downtown Concert Series at Acacia Park on Thursday evenings starting June 4.
Zoom in: A few free concert series to add to your summer calendar:
- π΅ Family friendly on the north end: The Banning Lewis Ranch Concert Series pairs a community market and food trucks, kicking off May 28 with some yacht rock nostalgia β Thursdays, 6-8pm.
- π² Westside party patio: The Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort's "Live at the Lodge" concerts bring a musical act, local food truck and happy hour specials before the music starts β Fridays, 6β9pm.
- ποΈ Eastside dance party: The First and Main shopping center is hosting seven weeks of danceable live music, starting June 5 with local band Rafiel and the Roomshakers β Fridays, 5-7pm.
π For the big spenders β one ticketed option: The Hillside Gardens' Summer Concert Series features three bands per night, plus six food and drink vendors β Wednesdays, 5-8pm. ($21.05)
The bottom line: Bookmark Peak Radar's outdoor summer concert guide to keep track of all the live music across town.
- And dust off those folding chairs and lawn blankets for several of these venues, including Hillside Gardens.
