Avondale health center is getting a major upgrade

Driving the news: Construction began this month and is expected to continue through spring 2027.

• The project includes plumbing and electrical upgrades, new flooring and fixtures and other interior renovations.
• Ambrose will also become the new home of the Crest Smile Shoppe at Ambrose Dental Center.

What they're saying: "This project represents more than bricks and mortar," assistant health commissioner Joyce Tate said in a statement. "It is an investment in the health and well-being of the Avondale community and the surrounding neighborhoods we serve."

By the numbers: City of Cincinnati Primary Care, the health department's clinical division, serves more than 45,000 patients annually.

• It operates six primary care centers and 13 school-based health centers in partnership with Cincinnati Public Schools.

What's next: Ambrose will remain open throughout construction, though patients could encounter temporary changes to parking, entrances and pathways.

• The health department says it will alert patients to access changes as construction progresses, with work currently scheduled to wrap up next spring.
