My husband and I are morning people with two requirements for a good Saturday: coffee and books, ideally with nowhere else to be.
Zoom in: Here's how we spent a recent Saturday in Cincinnati's East End and Columbia Tusculum — most of it close enough to walk (and push a stroller around).
8:30am: We started at Fulton Yards, blueberry muffin lattes in hand, enjoying a little table in the exposed-brick interior. There's also outdoor seating centered around the bar.
- It's a cozy, kid-friendly spot that feels like the East End's "Central Perk." Fans of local produce will also appreciate its proximity to the East End Community Garden.
9:30am: From there, it's a walk or short drive to The Bookery. We beelined for the kids' corner with hand-painted mural and tiny crawl-through tunnel.
- We left with one new book, as always.
12:30pm: Lunch at Daylily, another short walk away. It's the busiest stop on the list.
- Pro tip: Grab something extra from the deli case and stash it for later in the week.
2pm: A quick stop at the well-curated Manitou Candle Co., which can make you custom scents.
3pm: A short drive to Riverside Centre Antique Mall, where the East Side keeps its best-kept secret: some of the highest-quality thrifting in Cincinnati.
5:30pm: Dinner at Knuckles Deli. Fair warning: These sandwiches are good enough to get even a diehard West Sider to make the drive across town.
