Boulder's wellness scene gets a Pause

Driving the news: The California-based company, which opened its first location in Venice Beach in 2016, is expanding its national wellness franchise to 3390 Valmon Road.

What to expect:

• 🧊 Cold plunges and infrared saunas: Alternate between hot and cold temperatures in private suites.

• 🛟 Float therapy: Drift away in sensory deprivation tanks filled with warm water and Epsom salt.
• 🔴 Red light therapy: Bask in full-body LED light treatments marketed for skin health and recovery.
• 💉 IV drips and vitamin shots: Get a dose of nutrients that providers say can boost hydration, energy and wellness.
• ❄️ Cryotherapy and compression: Chill out with treatments aimed at muscle recovery and athletic performance.

The big picture: Pause joins a growing number of Boulder businesses tapping into the biohacking and longevity craze, which uses high-tech and specialized treatments in pursuit of better health and performance.

Pause is offering 50% off services during its presale, though an official opening date has not been announced.

Reality check: Many of these treatments are marketed to improve recovery, longevity and overall health, though scientific evidence supporting their benefits varies.
