Ichigo Matcha opens on University Hill

University Hill is going greener with the arrival of Ichigo Matcha, a Japanese-inspired tea and dessert shop.
What to expect: Ichigo, which opened in August at 1313 College Ave. — formerly home to Pizza 3.14 and Cheba Hut — specializes in Japanese matcha drinks and desserts.
- The menu features signature lattes, soft serve and taiyaki — fish-shaped waffles filled with traditional azuki (red bean paste) or less traditional cheese and Nutella.
- Other offerings include Hokkaido and brown sugar milk teas, boba, fruit teas and sandos.
The big picture: Ichigo's arrival creates a crowded boba/Asian drink and dessert market on the Hill, joining Lollicup, Kung Fu Tea and Scrooge Bahn Mi.
Zoom out: Ichigo already operates two Denver locations, including one on the 16th Street Mall and another on the CU Denver campus.
My thought bubble: Between the sandos, taiyaki and aesthetically pleasing pink and green ice cream swirls, Ichigo is an Instagram dream.
