The Boulder area food scene heads into fall with new pizza, tacos and coffee — plus, Oktoberfest.

🍕 Slice House, the fast-casual chain from 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani, holds its Longmont grand opening Saturday.
- The 725 Harvest Moon Drive restaurant is Slice House's second Boulder County location.
🌮 Summit Tacos, a Longmont food truck turned restaurant, opened a second location on University Hill in late August.
- It replaced Scrooge Sul at 1149 13th St.
🍗 Also on the Hill: Blazing Bird opened at 1143 13th St., serving hot chicken and smash burgers.
☕️ Pearl Street Coffee, a new family-owned cafe and bakery, opened last month at 2232 Pearl St.
- Its menu draws on "fika," the Swedish tradition of slowing down over coffee, pastries and conversation, with Scandinavian-style pastries alongside coffee and tea.
🍻 Fall festivities
🌶️ Superior's 25th annual Chili & Beer Fest runs 2–6pm Saturday at Community Park, 1350 Coalton Road.
- This year's menu expands beyond bowls of chili to include chili dogs, tamales, nachos, stuffed peppers and other chili-inspired creations. Samples are free while supplies last.
- The adjoining Beer Fest offers unlimited 3-ounce pours from more than 18 Colorado beverage makers.
- Beer Fest tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the gate. The chili competition, music and activities are free.
🍻 Break out the lederhosen with Oktoberfest celebrations taking over Boulder County this month.
- St Julien Oktoberfest — Sunday: The hotel hosts a lawn party with Polka Folka.
- 300 Suns Oktoberfest — Sept. 16, Longmont: Sample Märzens from six breweries alongside a Weisswurst special while supplies last.
- Avery Oktoberfest — Sept. 18: Avery celebrates with stein hoisting and live music from the Taylor Sims Band.
- Boulder Social Oktoberfest — Sept. 18: Expect live music, German food specials and $5 20-ounce Festbiers from 6 to 9pm.
- Left Hand Oktoberfest — Sept. 25-26, Longmont: The two-day bash features stein-holding contests, kids' activities and live music.
- Rock Creek Oktoberfest — Sept. 26, Superior: Purple Park hosts a more family-friendly festival.
