Boulder County Fair returns with rides, rodeo and boozy goat yoga

State of play: From Ferris wheels to farm animals and fiddles, there's a little bit of everything this week:

🎢 Ride the midway: Carnival rides and games run all week, as do kid-friendly caterpillar coasters and something called "The Scrambler."

• Wristbands can be purchased on-site. Single rides are $4-$8, and an unlimited day pass is $35.

🐄 See the animals: Watch 4-H and FFA competitions, open livestock shows, animal costume contests, interactive agricultural exhibits and petting zoos for the kids.

• For the grownups, a $40 ticket gets you a mimosa and a yoga session with baby goats. Bring your own mat — preferably not your nicest one.

🤠 Catch the grandstand shows: Ticketed events in the main arena include the CPRA Rodeo, Truck and Tractor Pull, Demolition Derby and Mexican Rodeo Fiesta.

• Meanwhile, magicians, jugglers, clowns, bubble makers and other performers can be found roaming the fairgrounds all week.

🎶 Listen to live music: More than 20 bands and performers take the stage throughout the week. The Gasoline Lollipops headline on Thursday, with other highlights including the Cass Clayton Band and Chris Karns.

🛍️ Browse and snack: Shop local vendors, creative living competitions and artisan booths while perusing food trucks and craft beverage makers.

If you go: The event is at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, on the edge of Longmont and runs Wednesday through Sunday.

Entry is free, though some events may require tickets or wristbands.
