The Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, which means the Boulder area has a full weekend of fireworks, festivals and patriotic fun on tap.
The big picture: Boulder may have retired its Folsom Field fireworks show, but there's no shortage of ways and places to celebrate.
Caveat: Due to high fire danger, there's a chance some displays may be called off.
Here's a collection of shows, parties and more to celebrate America 250:
Fireworks shows
🎆 July 3 Fireworks Show, Erie Community Park: As per tradition, the town of Erie will kick things off a day early with food trucks, vendors and an evening fireworks display.
- 📍6–10pm Friday; Free
🎇 Fireworks in Louisville, Coal Creek Golf Course: Enjoy food trucks, face painting, family fun and an evening fireworks show, with shuttle service available.
- 📍 6–10pm Saturday; Free
🎸 Downtown Longmont Family Festival, First Avenue and Emery Street: This family-friendly celebration has three music stages, local business specials, a drone show and fireworks.
- 📍 5–11pm Saturday; Free
City events
💦 Rooftop Pool Party, Limelight Boulder: Cool off and get down with a DJ, cocktails and burgers.
- 📍 11am–5pm Saturday; $45 for adults, kids under 10 are free with a day pass.
🎻 Boulder Symphony July 4 Concert, Glen Huntington Bandshell: Patriotic favorites, movie soundtracks and American classics will be performed as part of the Arts in the Park series.
- 📍 7–8:30pm Saturday; $15 adults, $10 youth
Pancake breakfasts
🪓 Jamestown Fourth of July, 1 Main St.: This all-day celebration comes complete with a pancake breakfast, town photo, wood splitting contest and live music.
- 📍 8am–11:15pm Saturday; Free
🥞 Niwot Pancake Breakfast, Cottonwood Square: After the most important meal of the day, try out bike decorating and enjoy a patriotic concert and Independence Day parade.
- 📍 7:30am–noon Saturday; Free
🥧 72nd Annual Fourth Fest, Coal Creek Community Center: Dig into the pancake breakfast before a parade, vendor booths, cornhole tournament and pie eating contest.
- 📍 7am–2pm Saturday; Free
☕️ Superior Super Pancake Breakfast, Community Park: Breakfast with a side of live entertainment, kids' activities, stilt walkers and a petting zoo. Then hit the after-party at Bambei Brewing with live music from 7:30–9pm.
