We've got a fresh batch of Boulder food news this week — from a star chef's new concept to a longtime staple hitting turbulence and some new spots and events.
The big picture: Boulder's dining scene isn't standing still.
Here's what's cooking around town:
🍝 Chef Hosea Rosenberg of Blackbelly plans to open in June a "red sauce joint" called Morso in the former Under the Sun location, in the Table Mesa Shopping Center.
- The concept is "a neighborhood restaurant with wood-fired pizzas, pastas, parmigianas (and) cocktails," according to the Daily Camera.
🌭 The future of Boulder's iconic Mustard's Last Stand is in limbo because its home of 50 years is scheduled to be razed as part of the Civic Area project.
- Founder Dan Polovin told the Camera he's unsure when the iconic hot dog spot's final day will be or whether it can relocate into another building.
- Mustard's does have a Denver location.
🖼️ Community Food Share will host its Food Is Art fundraiser on Saturday at its Louisville warehouse, to help provide 400,000 meals for families in Boulder and Broomfield counties.
- The event will feature "gallery style" small plates from local chefs, live art installations, a Boulder Ballet performance, silent and live auctions.
🍣 While its official opening is in early May, Wellness Counter, a new Japanese restaurant, is welcoming guests with a complimentary dessert for Mile High Asian Food Week.
- The chef's counter from Phoebe and Steven Lee, the couple behind Denver's plant-based Wellness Sushi, is set to open May 7 at 1117 Pearl St.

☕️ A new combination cafe and boba spot called, appropriately, Cafe Boba is expected to open in the strip mall at 3350 Arapahoe Ave., according to signage at the site. No opening date has been announced.
- The location was most recently the post-COVID office of the Daily Camera.
- 🗯️ My thought bubble: Dang, I could have used a cafe while I was working there.
