The University of Colorado women are heading back to the NCAA Tournament.
The latest: The Buffs earned a No. 10 seed in the Fort Worth region and will open against Illinois.
CU went 22–11 this year, riding a strong run in the Big 12 tournament.
Zoom in: This is the fourth time in five years the Buff women have made the NCAA Tournament under head coach JR Payne.
The Buffs reached the Sweet 16 in each of their last two tournament appearances before losing to the Iowa Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark — who, thankfully for everyone else, has since moved on to the WNBA.
Zoom out: The Buffs will be joined by the women of Colorado State, a No. 12 seed.
Fun fact: This is the fourth time both schools have made the women's tournament in the same year — and the first time since 2002.
What we're watching: The Buffs and Illini square off Saturday. Game time has not yet been announced.
Because the top 16 teams in the women's tournament host the first two rounds, the Buffs will travel to Nashville, home of No. 2 seed Vanderbilt.
