Mountain Sun's Stout Month is back

Driving the news: Boulder-based Mountain Sun kicked off its 31st Stout Month last weekend, a tradition in which the brewery sets aside at least 10 taps exclusively for dark, rich ales.

Dive in: Mountain Sun brewed at least 25 stouts for the occasion this year. The first batch includes:

What to try: My favorites from this first round were the Nihilist and, of course, the Coconut Cream.

What we're watching: More dark brews, including staples like the Oatimus Prime Imperial Oatmeal Stout and new creations like the Monty Brae Rum Barrel-Aged Foreign Export Stout, will appear later in the month.

• Yes, but: Remember, different beers will tap out at different locations, so if you see one you really want to try, don't wait too long.

Pro tip: None of Mountain Sun's three Boulder County locations takes credit cards, so remember to bring cash or checks. Denver's Vine Street Pub and Brewery does accept credit card payments.
