The University of Colorado men's basketball team played its Wednesday home game against Portland State without fans amid safety concerns spurred the high-wind event.
The vibe: The empty arena and cardboard cutouts definitely gave the game a pandemic-era feel, with only 101 family and friends of players in the stands.
"Kind of a weird night tonight for the Buffaloes," CU coach Tad Boyle said. "It took me back a few years ago when we played in this building with hardly anybody here."
The big picture: Despite the odd conditions, CU was able to pull out a 83-74 win and moved to 10-1 in what has been an impressive start to the season.
Neither the men's or women's teams play again in Boulder until the last week of December, so hopefully the fake fans will be a one-off.
