Bad Ass brings Kona coffee to Boulder

What to expect: In addition to selling Kona coffee beans to make at home or send to friends, Bad Ass has a cafe with a collection of drinks.

• The menu also includes tropical smoothies, juices and sandwiches. And yes, one of the signature sandwiches contains Spam and pineapple.
• Not hungry? Buy merch. Because you can never get enough stuff that says "Bad Ass" on it.

The vibe: The Boulder location has plenty of seating, with two stories plus a patio on both the ground and second floors.

• And the cafe frequently partners with neighboring Club Pilates for events.

Catch up quick: Traditionally, Kona coffee, grown on Hawaii's Big Island, is known for its smooth, balanced and nutty flavor as well as its small-batch production.

Fun fact: Coffee farmers in Kona once used donkeys to haul coffee, but the animals were dubbed nightingales because of their constant braying at night.
