Boulder lit up under the northern lights this week, as solar storms painted the sky with streaks of color visible across much of the U.S.
State of play: A strong geomagnetic storm sent auroras as far south as Texas on Tuesday, with the spectacle continuing into Wednesday.
- In Boulder, the lights were bright enough to spot with the naked eye for stretches of the night — and at times even more vivid through a camera lens.
Zoom out: It's been a good week for skywatchers in Boulder — between the northern lights, the beaver moon and a run of fiery sunsets, there's been no shortage of reasons to look up.

- But weather could play a factor, as the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies Wednesday night in Boulder.
