CU Buffs women's sports squads surge in national rankings

The latest: The Buffs volleyball team is ranked No. 24 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll at 14-3, while the soccer team is ranked No. 10 by the Division I Women's Soccer Committee at 10-2-2.

The volleyball team climbed into the rankings following a five-match win streak that included back-to-back road wins over then-No. 14 BYU and then-No. 23 Utah.

• CU junior Ana Burilovic was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 with 22 kills and four aces against BYU and 19 kills and three aces against Utah.

The soccer team has won four of five, including a big upset over then-No. 7 TCU.

• Sophomore forward Hope Leyba is second in the NCAA with 14 goals this season, while senior goalkeeper Jordan Nytes has recorded five shutouts to climb to third among CU's career leaders.

Zoom in: CU is one of a few schools guaranteeing revenue-sharing access to all student-athletes following the House vs. NCAA settlement, CU athletic department spokesperson Steve Hurlbert told Axios Boulder.

"At CU, all of our student-athletes participate in revenue-sharing, which was one of our priorities as we started laying out a plan for how we would address the provisions outlined in the House settlement," Hurlbert added.

• He envisions more women athletes can take advantage of CU's name, image and likeness programs.
• "Our hope is that the success of these two programs will inspire businesses to work directly with them on marketing initiatives, because these women are unquestionably winners," Hurlbert said.
