Half Fast Subs announces opening date

Boulder's Half Fast Subs has announced it will reopen early next month after being closed for eight months following a fire in January.

Why it matters: One of the University Hill's landmark locations now finally has a set opening date after months of construction delays and nervous speculation from sub lovers.

The latest: The sub shop announced it would reopen on Sept. 8 in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

"We're beyond excited to reopen our doors after a long eight months," owner Fred Liskowski told Axios Boulder.

Between the lines: Liskowski told Axios Boulder in June that the hope was to open by late August or early September.

The opening date means Half Fast, a popular game-day spot for University of Colorado football fans, will miss only two Buffs home games.

What's next: Liskowski told Axios Boulder on Wednesday that he expects the shop will be able to resume its normal hours.

"We're ready for everyone to come back and enjoy a sub and personal pitcher," Liskowski said.
