Cheba Hut returns to Boulder

• Last year, the sandwich shop announced plans to split the former Lazy Dog spot at 1346 Pearl St.
• The eatery officially opened in December, even as its neighboring parcel appears to be changing plans.

What to expect: The space is split between an indoor seating and ordering area and a patio, with a bar in between.

• It opens at 10am daily and is open until midnight Sunday-Thursday and 2am Friday-Saturday.

The vibe: I mean, it's a place that names its sandwiches after strains of marijuana. It's mellower than a sports bar even though it has a few TVs and calmer than a dive bar even though it stays open late.

• They have Nintendo Switches available for customers. It's as if your basement served sandwiches.

Best bites: All your old favorites are there, like the Acapulco Gold (BBQ chicken) and my go-to, the White Widow (chicken, bacon, ranch).

• At the bar, they have beer and a sprinkling of custom cocktails, including the delightful Ms. Parker (a moonshine-based concoction) and, of course, Bong Water (a rum and Kool-Aid mix).

• Pro tip: Ask for the Bong Water with purple Kool-Aid instead of blue.

Mitchell's thought bubble: While the University Hill location was a college favorite, the space itself was narrow and all angles and weirdly placed posts. This new spot is much more open. I especially like the bar and patio setup, which occupies a space that used to be a tiny parking lot.
