RMNP offers free entry, events for National Parks Week

State of play: All national park sites will waive entrance fees on Saturday. Some parks, including Rocky Mountain, will hold additional events throughout the week. This year's theme, National Park Playlist, celebrates "musical connections to national parks and the American story," per the site.

• Timed entry is not required for RMNP until late May, but expect lines during peak hours.
• Trail Ridge Road remains closed for the season due to weather conditions.

Pro tip: RMNP has also started selling transponders for $15 that will allow visitors with annual passes to use a fast lane.
