Republican Lauren Boebert faces a challenge from Democrat Eileen Laubacher in Colorado's 4th Congressional District.

Why it matters: The race tests whether a Democrat running toward the political middle can win over Republican and unaffiliated voters to compete in a GOP stronghold that includes Douglas County and the Eastern Plains.

State of play: Boebert won with a comfortable 12-point margin in 2024, but election forecasters disagree on how competitive this year's race is.

Meet the candidates:

Boebert, the incumbent, champions Trump's agenda, tighter border security, tougher immigration enforcement and expanded domestic energy production. She also supports lower taxes, reduced federal spending and gun rights.
Laubacher, a retired two-star Navy admiral from Highlands Ranch and former Republican, emphasizes lowering living costs, fiscal restraint protecting rural hospitals, securing the border and working across party lines. She also supports congressional term limits and banning stock trading among lawmakers.
