Advocates supporting Rajon Belt-Stubblefield's family are expected to turn out tonight at Aurora's City Council meeting.
Why it matters: The 18th Judicial District last week announced second-degree murder and reckless manslaughter charges against Aurora police officer Matthew Neely, who fatally shot the 37-year-old last year.
And Neely's charges are another flashpoint in the department's fractured relationship with residents.
What we're hearing: The meeting will include community reactions to Neely's indictment.
"This [won't be] an 'I told you so' moment," Belt-Stubblefield family spokesperson MiDian Shofner tells me. "It's an ... extended invitation to collaborate and do something differently."
Council member Amy Wiles says council won't discuss the case publicly.
"We will let the legal process move forward," she tells me.
What's next: The 6pm meeting is at the Aurora Municipal Center. You can also watch online.
