Jared Polis has won the Colorado governor’s race against Republican Walker Stapleton, making him the first openly gay man to be elected governor in the U.S.
The details: Polis, a Democrat, has been serving in the House of Representatives since 2009 and will succeed Democrat John Hickenlooper, who has been Colorado’s governor since 2011 and was facing a term limit.
