New data underscores just how dominant Amazon, Google and Microsoft are when it comes to data centers in North America.
Why it matters: The data gives us a sharper understanding of the dominance by the top operators — including the three that have launched efforts to justify their water use.
By the numbers: Amazon, Google and Microsoft account for more than half of the top 15 data-center power capacity as ranked by financial firm Jefferies in a recently published research note.
Amazon, specifically Amazon Web Services, is the clear leader among the top three.
