Exclusive: Verizon, Invenergy expand renewable power deals

Driving the news: The latest agreements are for energy from solar projects in Maryland (Richfield Solar) and Illinois (Maple Flats) that came online last year.

• The Cadence Solar project in Ohio is slated to start operating in 2026, and the Chalk Bluff development in Arkansas is due to launch in 2027.
• Verizon is paying for power that feeds into local grids, and the deals provide the telecom giant with clean energy credits.

The big picture: Invenergy's latest deal with Verizon follows Invenergy pacts with Meta that together total over 1 gigawatt, and the energy company's separate agreement with Honda and Tesla.

• The projects associated with those deals represent over $4 billion combined in capital investment, according to Invenergy.
• They serve customers' growing needs and "deliver jobs and economic benefits to local communities and add more American energy to the grid," Chris Orzel, an Invenergy senior VP, said in a statement.
