Axios Event: Dallas celebrates 2024 Power Players award winners

DALLAS – An evening event on Oct. 8 honored this year's Axios Power Players Dallas award winners – a cohort of local rising leaders across different industries who are shaping the future of North Texas.

• Axios Dallas reporters Naheed Rajwani-Dharsi and Tasha Tsiaperas moderated conversations with two Power Players award winners, The Loop Dallas executive director Philip Hiatt Haigh and Flipstone Vintage and Thrift CEO Dancing Iglesias at the event, which was sponsored by Jackson Spalding.

Why it matters: From building a new trail system to launching a thrift store, Haigh and Iglesias are two of this year's award winners who are making a notable impact on their community.

What they're saying: "The Loop Dallas is a 50-mile trail system that's being built around the city right now," Haigh said.

• His goal is to make Dallas more walkable, connect the area's neighborhoods and make its trail system easier to navigate by foot or by bike.

Iglesias opened Flipstone Vintage and Thrift with her family, aiming to promote second-hand living while also educating the public about the history of Indigenous people in Fort Worth.

• "We were trying to create something that would still cater to the people who needed the affordability, but also the people that were just going because they choose second-hand," Iglesias said.
