Thousands of Verizon outages reported nationwide

• Users nationwide began reporting outages early Monday across several cities, including Chicago, Atlanta and Phoenix.

State of play: As of 10:50am ET, Verizon had yet to post an update online about the outages.

• Several commenters on Downdetector said their phones had been in "SOS" mode for hours.
• 56% of respondents on Downdetector reported issues with their mobile phones, and 32% said they had no signal.

What they're saying: A representative for Verizon told Axios they are "aware of an issue impacting service for some customers," adding their "engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue."

The outage comes as thousands across the eastern United States remain without power in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has left widespread cellphone outages.
