Just two days after Kirstjen Nielsen announced her resignation from the Department of Homeland Security, Acting Deputy Secretary Claire Grady has done the same.
Why this matters: Without Grady's resignation, President Trump would not have been able to appoint Kevin McAleenan as acting Secretary of DHS. Legally, Nielsen's responsibilities would have transferred to Grady — a 28-year veteran at the departments of Defense and Homeland Security.
