North Carolina Republican congressional candidate Mark Harris, whose campaign is at the center of a ballot-fraud inquiry, told state election officials during a hearing on Thursday that a new election should be called to settle the disputed 9th congressional district race.
Why it matters: Harris holds an unofficial 905-vote lead over his Democratic opponent, but the North Carolina State Board of Elections had declined to certify him as a winner last year due to claims of "numerous" absentee voting irregularities.
