Democrats hold slight advantage heading in to midterm elections

With Election Day just weeks away, Democrats are topping polls over their Republican counterparts in pre-Election Day polling, according to new data from both CNN and the Washington Post.

By the numbers: The Post's survey of 2,672 likely voters in 69 battleground House districts across the country shows that Democrats hold a slight advantage with 50% of voters leaning toward Democratic nominees and 46% leaning Republican. Democrats are also ahead in CNN's poll of 739 likely voters with 54% of voters preferring Democratic candidates and 41% preferring Republicans. Seven states have begun accepting absentee ballots as of today: Iowa, Maine, New Jersey, Vermont, Wyoming, Nebraska and Minnesota.
