Judge rules Florida election officials must provide Spanish language materials

A Florida judge ruled that election officials must provide Spanish language materials for ballots in 32 counties with Puerto Rican populations across the state, the New York Times reports.

Why it matters: There were concerns that thousands of Puerto Rican citizens with limited English proficiency, who moved to Florida after Hurricane Maria debilitated the U.S. territory, wouldn't be able to vote. This ruling makes it easier for such citizens to voice their positions in November's midterm elections.
