Actor Jimmy Bennett, who has accused Asia Argento of sexual abuse, told The New York Times that he was too "afraid and ashamed" to speak up at the time of the incident, saying there "was still a stigma to being in the situation as a male in our society."
The big picture: Bennett first notified Argento, who has been a leader of the #MeToo movement, of his intention to sue her in November, according to The Times. Bennett said he didn't speak out originally "because I chose to handle it in private. ... My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself."
