TurboTax maker Intuit today said that CEO Brad Smith will step down at year-end, at which point he'll become executive chairman. The CEO role will go to Sasan Goodarzi, who currently leads Intuit's small business and self-employed group.

  • The company also said chief technology officer Tyloe Stansbury will leave at year end, to be succeeded by Marianna Tessel.

Why it matters: Smith has one of the longer CEO tenures in Silicon Valley, with Intuit saying it generated more than a 600% shareholder return during his 11 years at the helm.
