Report: Al-Qaeda bomb master killed in U.S. strike

Al-Qaeda's chief bomb maker, Ibrahim al-Asiri, was reportedly killed last year in Yemen in an American airstrike, according to CBS News — but neither the Pentagon nor al-Qaeda are commenting.

Why it matters: Al-Asiri was credited with creating "miniaturized bombs with little or no metal content" that could pass airport security, CNN reports. Per CBS, he was considered "the single most dangerous terrorist in the world" after Osama bin Laden was killed.
