Superintendent of Parkland unveils new school security

Robert Runcie, the superintendent of Broward county schools, is facing criticism from parents of victims of the Valentines Day shooting, after students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida returned with heightened security, CBS reports.

The big picture: Parents and outside critics are complaining the latest security measures at the school are still not secure enough. The school is now surrounded by a 12 foot fence, has new locks, more surveillance cameras and single-point entryway doors with automatic locks. The school was also given about $8 million to provide armed security personnel, but Runcie says, "It's absolutely not enough." Critics argue that without metal detectors a gun can still be slipped onto campus.
